Holding events at Writer's Block

Writer's Block are happy to host a range of events relating to books, the craft of writing, reading.  Examples include:

1) Book launches

2) Book signings

3) Meet the author sessions

4) Book and poetry readings

We do not hold non-book related events, children's parties etc.

Our Commercial Arcade shop is available as follows: 

During opening hours:

Between 11:00 and 16:00 Tuesday to Saturday. 

Please note that the shop will remain open to customers during this period and therefore any events must be able to accommodate this. Events that require the store to be closed must be scheduled for outside opening hours. 

Outside hours:

17:30pm and 20:00 Tuesday to Thursday

Please note that the shop will be closed to customers.  Dates and times outside of those stated above may available upon request. 

Please note that the shop will not be available for events in December, public holidays or any other period of closure at the management's discretion. 

We are flexible in our charging rates for hire of the venue:

Free events - if you are not seeking to charge an entrance or ticket fee for the event, we will waive any fee for hire of the venue.  However, we will expect any advertising to make specific reference to Writer's Block and participants be encouraged to post about the event on their social media. 

Ticketed events: where you are seeking to charge for the event, we would seek to charge 10% of the ticket price , for example an event of 10 people priced at £20 per head would attract a £20 charge.  The issuing and collecting of tickets will be the responsibility of the organiser of the event. 

Events held for fundraising in relation to a Guernsey registered charity are always free.

Writer's Block can provide seating for up to 10 people and a folding table to be used a desk or display.  

Writer's Block does not provide any food or catering services in relation to events.  Should you wish to incorporate the provision of food or beverages for consumption on the premises, this will need to be made clear in your application.  Writer's Block reserves the right to refuse the consumption of food or beverages on the premises. 

The organiser of the event will retain the responsibility for all advertising of the event. 

Writer's Block reserves the right to post details concerning the event to our website and certain social media platforms, such as Facebook and X.
